Kelly Moroka is a franchise system that has separate franchises nationally. Kelly Moroka operates in NSW, WA and ACT. Peter Kelly - the company's founder, had been working in the industry for nearly 30 years when Taubmans came to him with a problem. They wanted to fix de-lamination of traditional bagging and painting because of peeling, flaking and blistering. The problems in the industry involved the large cost of stripping back and re-application of bagging and paint (not to mention actual damage to the bricks caused as a result of these procedures). A significant cause of bag and paint de-lamination was found to be efflorescence (where white salt leaks out of the bricks and spoils paint finishes). In order to address this problem, Kelly Moroka's Peter Kelly in conjunction with Taubmans developed Taubmans Moroka (arguably the best acrylic texture coating product in the marketplace). Firstly however, the two parties developed a base and/or prima coat, which had the effect of holding back substantially more salinity than what had been provided before. This in turn promoted better adhesion of the top coat and accordingly helped to prevent the de-lamination from occurring. However, the research and development didn't stop there. After a further 2 years of extensive testing and trials, a product was developed which encapsulated the bagging within the painting procedure. This product - now known as Moroka, when used in conjunction with the base or treatment coat has the effect of stopping bag and paint de-lamination from brickwork. The development of such products not only gave way to a revolutionary new and improved bagging procedure, but also the development of the Kelly Moroka Franchise System - a 100% Australian owned business.
